An all-inclusive cinematic celebration founded in 1983, multifaceted, the Alès Film Festival marries fiction with documentary, and heritage with discovery.
Each year's festival explores a different aspect of Itinérances, mainly through themed retrospectives involving films of all genres and eras reflecting that year's take on the general theme. The films selected are from all over the world and include world premieres and material previously unreleased in France. Itinérances also features a Short Film competition, several tribute screenings, cine-concerts; silent films with live music played as a soundtrack, and a wide range of youth-targeted programmes and activities.
