The Pont du Gard celebrates the 40th anniversary of its listing as a UNESCO World Heritage Site: an evening where art, light and poetry meet. A fraternal and universal celebration, to be experienced at the heart of this two-thousand-year-old masterpiece.
Through original performances, musical parades and a video-mapping finale by Groupe F, the monument will light up with new energy. Conceived as a poetic encounter with the monument, this evening will highlight the values of culture, transmission and sharing that have always linked it to residents and visitors from all over the world.
On the program:
2 p.m.: Opening: Fanfaronade with the Banda Brutti and wooden rides from the Théâtre de la Toupine for young and old. (Esplanade Rive droite).
Sweet and savoury food truck village.
5pm: The great musical Parade of the Sirens by Compagnie Mécanique Vivante (Departure Rive gauche).
6pm: DéRives, nautical parade on the Gardon by Compagnie Ilotopie.
7pm: "Odes au Pont" (Right Bank): an emotional sequence where time is suspended by words, song and music. Bach suites by cellist Esteban Cellier. A message from Le Pont to future generations read by Kounda. Fauré and Debussy interpreted by soprano Coline Infante and accompanied by pianist Adélaïde Panaget.
8 p.m.: The grand finale on the Pont du Gard with Groupe F's video-mapping show "Les mondes magiques".
