Earth Masseur

Shops, Art craftsmen, Sculpter in Vézénobres
  • I sculpt multi-faced heads and busts in stoneware up to 140 cm high. My work is perceived as either very futuristic or very primitive depending on the opinion.
I exhibit my work at home in Vézénobres in a 90m2 gallery.

  • Masseur De Terre why this artist name?

In 2016, as a wellness masseur, I discovered the work of clay at a friend ceramist. On the way back I bought a wheel and the following week a kiln.
The first clients I massaged on my way home let me perceive similar sensations. Massaging bodies or kneading clay give my hands the same pleasure that is difficult to describe. A crazy thing...

Masseur De Terre why this artist name?

In 2016, as a wellness masseur, I discovered the work of clay at a friend ceramist. On the way back I bought a wheel and the following week a kiln.
The first clients I massaged on my way home let me perceive similar sensations. Massaging bodies or kneading clay give my hands the same pleasure that is difficult to describe. A crazy thing...
Self-taught, I tinker with bowls and other trinkets without much interest. My zen side takes over and I create plaster molds to make Buddha faces.
Little by little my interest dwindles as my creativity is limited to the creation of molds. The most complex one has 17 pieces to make a 65 cm high Buddha head.
In 2019 I am looking for myself at two fingers to drop everything. I sign up for a porcelain workshop. I get bored very quickly because this work is too academic for me. I need creativity, freedom, escape. To kill time until the end of the workshop I start to shape faces. I hear the whoops from the other trainees. I look at what my hands have created and I amaze myself. I understand that it is the clay and my hands that have given life to these completely anachronistic faces, very primitive or very futuristic. My mind was elsewhere completely disconnected from reality. On my way home I turn the page. I destroy all my molds to focus on the sculpture of heads and also some busts.
I have difficulties to realize my first faces. Nothing to do with the beauty of the ones I had made in training. I intellectualize my work too much. I try too much to reproduce real faces. I stumbled on the work of the nape of the neck. I let my mind wander until a second face appears instead of the neck. I am surprised, it is terribly crazy, creative, innovative. My hands and the earth have conspired to disconnect my brain for the time of this creation.
I have found my originality, my artistic signature, my creative madness: heads with two or three faces.
I become a sculptor on earth or more precisely "Masseur De Terre".

My sculptures are hollow, made without any structure with walls only a few millimeters thick.
Some are raw, others are enamelled.
