A blend of age-old heritage and innovation, Domaine de l'Ancien Prieuré makes bio-dynamic wines in the heart of the Cévennes, aged in the winery, as well as a cuvée aged in amphora in the setting of a 12th-century Romanesque church.
The Domaine de l'Ancien Prieuré owes its name to the priory of St Jean, which was built against the 12th-century Romanesque church in 1781.
Nestling on a natural knoll, the site benefits from an exposure that owes nothing to chance and that the ancients have exploited since earliest antiquity.
It is with passion that the domaine's team takes up the ancestral techniques of their predecessors, and adds modern processes, to create complex, well-crafted wines that respect the environment. On this terroir steeped in history, the domaine develops a wine that respects the earth, thanks to a modern bio-dynamic approach. Our wines are aged in amphorae, preserving the uniqueness of our heritage.
Today, the Domaine covers 28 hectares of vines in two appellations: IGP Cévennes and AOP Duché d'Uzès. And to complete the alchemy, it's in the mineral cocoon of the 12th-century Romanesque church that the best of our production waits serenely for time to do its work!
