    NATURAL HERITAGE:
Around Génolhac, you can see beautiful chestnut and beech groves; these are heritage habitats.
The chestnut tree can reach more than 30m in height. After pollination, the female flowers develop into "pelous" bogues in which the chestnuts are formed. Chestnuts, very nutritious, have long been the basis of the diet of the Cevennes. This is what earned the chestnut tree its nickname of "bread tree".
Also to be seen on this circuit, the Black Woodpecker which is particularly fond of the forest character of this sector.
