HISTORICAL HERITAGE
The Temple of Mialet - 16th century - Place du temple
Rebuilt in the 19th century on the site of the first temple built in 1562, its particularity is its octagonal shape, in conformity with that of all the first buildings of the Protestant cult. Its particularity is its octagonal shape, in conformity with all the first Protestant buildings of worship. It allows the audience to be arranged in a circle around the pulpit and the communion table.
The Moulin de la Bonté on the banks of the Gardon River operated until the Second World War. The force of the water from the small dam on the Gardon River drives the wheel that drives the millstones of different sizes depending on the raw materials they grind: olives, oats and chestnuts. It has been renovated but no longer works.
Not to be missed: The Desert Museum.
This art and history museum brings to life the Huguenot past and the epic of the Camisards through documents and authentic pieces (furniture, bibles, weapons). It is located in the house where the Camisard leader Rolland was born, in the heart of a Cévenol hamlet with its typical narrow streets.
NATURAL HERITAGE
The caves of Trabuc, living caves, where water tirelessly leaves its imprint on the stone, trickling down draperies in waterfalls, up to the foot of the Lake of Midnight, in a staging of shadows and lights (Pay visit).
On this loop and in particular the sector of the Baumelle and Mas Soubeyran are present three species of protected butterflies: the Diane, the azuré of the serpolet and the proserpine. These three butterflies fly mainly in spring. It is possible to see the Diana and the Prosperpine as early as March. The Azure will be present rather from May to July.
