    HISTORICAL HERITAGE :
The Castellas: It is probably on the vestiges of a Roman oppidum that was built the first fortified place, in the IXth century. A Carolingian fortress, the castle was built on a rocky outcrop, in a loop of the Salendrinque. This strategic place made it possible to supervise the natural way of access to the Cevennes from the plain. At its outlet, the Emerald Valley, a precious stone that reflects the green of the environment but also symbolizes light and renewal. Originally, gypsum was mined on the site, a mineral used to amend soils and to produce plaster.

    NATURAL HERITAGE:
On this circuit, in the spring and until the end of the summer, it is possible to cross the European bee-eater. Its bright yellow, blue and reddish brown colors give it an exotic look, easily identifiable. This species is protected, its area of distribution tends to extend because of climate change.
