The tourist information office of Alès is located in the city center, right next to the city hall.
This building is located in the remains of the former church of the Cordeliers, dating from the 11th century, which also housed the municipal theater of Alès until the 1960s.
The tourist information office of Alès offers a variety of documentation on tourist sites, hikes and accommodations,
restaurants, events, in partnership with our local and regional actors.
You will also find in our tourist office a 100% eco-responsible store, with many local and artisanal products.
Its mission is to welcome and inform tourist and local visitors, but also to promote its rich heritage, while implementing a tourism strategy for the development and influence of economic actors in its territory.
Sub-prefecture of the Gard, located thirty minutes from Nîmes and one hour from Montpellier, Alès is positioned as a place of good living at the gates of the Cevennes.
Alès is a pleasant city to live in, labeled "4 Flowers" with all the shops, two national stages (La Verrerie, Le Cratère) and many quality public facilities (Colombier Museum, Pierre André Benoît Library Museum, media library, water sports center, Cultural and Scientific Center, cinema).
Recognized as one of the five gateways to the Cevennes, a territory classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site, Alès is also a "Gateway to the Stars" with the label "International Dark Sky Reserve" (RICE) which was awarded in 2018.
